Meet Ziggy

A Proven Leader, Entrepreneur, and Advocate for Our Community

Ziggy Samra is a dedicated father, successful entrepreneur, and passionate community advocate running for Tukwila City Council in the position being vacated by outgoing Councilmember Mohamed Abdi. With more than 20 years of hands-on experience in retail, restaurant management, and real estate, Ziggy brings a wealth of practical knowledge and a fresh perspective to city government.

As a real estate professional, Ziggy is currently a broker with Terry Wise & Associates and previously served as a realtor with Keller Williams Realty. Throughout his career in real estate, he has helped countless families find homes throughout the Puget Sound Area, giving him firsthand insight into housing challenges and opportunities in our region.

Ziggy is also an experienced restaurant franchise owner. Under his leadership, these businesses managed over $1,000,000 in annual gross sales while creating sustainable local jobs and serving thousands of customers. His experience managing multiple locations has honed his skills in operations, strategic planning, budgeting, and team building.

In 2016, Ziggy demonstrated his innovation as an entrepreneur when he founded Bombay Bazaar, the South Puget Sound's first full-service Indian grocery store. This venture not only brought diverse food options to Pierce County communities but also created a cultural bridge, introducing South Asian cuisine and products to customers from all backgrounds. The store achieved great success in the early months of operation and saw 30% growth over the following years.

Ziggy graduated from the Milgard School of Business at UW-Tacoma (UWT) with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing and a Minor in Economics. During his time at UWT, he served as Vice President and CFO of the UWT Marketing Society. His academic excellence was recognized through multiple wins in the prestigious “Corporate Social Responsibility Case Competition,” where he helped develop sustainable business strategies for companies like REI and Bloomberg.

As a husband and father of two, Ziggy is deeply committed to building a better future for all Tukwila residents. His decision to run for City Council stems from a desire to ensure that Tukwila remains a safe, affordable, and thriving community for generations to come.
